The TechHOUNDS, Team 868, is Carmel High School’s FIRST Robotics Team. In 1992, FIRST was started with a competition based around a game. Every year since then, the competitions have been based on new games. From the time this team was created by an existing mentor in 2001, we have always followed the tradition of gracious professionalism, which is encouraged by FIRST. This year is our team’s 7th year in the organization, and we’ve won several awards and hope to continue our winning tradition. We are also looking forward to many more exciting seasons!

Our students, year in and year out, graduate from high school and continued on to college. These years alone, over 9 million dollars’ worth of scholarships are available to the graduating seniors of the winning teams. Many of our team members have parents who return year after year, even when their students graduate, to serve as mentors on the team. This is not simply an extra curricular activity in which students pass the time; it is a close-knit, team-driven organization in which students and adults alike learn new skills with technology, and even more importantly, the importance of good sportsmanship, gracious professionalism, and teamwork. Team 868 provides a learning experience that is not only rewarding, but one that builds character and changes lives.
